The Pitray Estate has been in the same family for 25 generations lasting well over 600 years of winemaking history in Castillon with consistent winemaking always overdelivering on quality. The 2018 is shows as a fresh and fruit forward style, bright and expressive in its youth with aromas of black cherry, spice cake, warm plums, and fragrant violets. Wine Enthusiast - 91 - This grand chateau on its hillside surveys a 150-acre vineyard. The top wine from the estate, this is mainly wood aged, giving polish as well as perfumed black-currant fruitiness. With its ripe tannins, the wine will easily age.

Bloodroot Cellars is a secret collaboration between several winemakers who have come together here to make a masterful, value-minded blend from the region's premier vineyards throughout the Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Marin, Anderson Valley and Bennett Valley. For under 20$, it really doesn't get much better than this! Fresh and floral on the nose with macerated strawberry, rhubarb, vanilla, candied violets, and hibiscus tea. 20% barrel for 16 months adds a warm core of spice and vanilla into the lasting complex finish. Just an incredible quality wine for the price.
