When looking for incredible value in wine, I tend to lean towards trying the second label or more broad designation wines from iconic producers and great vintages, and that’s exactly what we have here. Bosquet des Papes is a family owned low production winery known for their exceptional Chateauneuf du Pape. You can almost guarantee the same quality winemaking goes into the bottle as the famed vineyards or villages, but they're usually made with younger vines, or juice that barely missed the cut for their prestige cuvee, yet more approachable in it's youth. Their 'Cotes du Rhone' is made from just 3.5 hectares of vines with an average age of 50 years, planted just minutes from the famed Chateauneuf du Pape region, and the quality is comparable.

Wine Advocate 94 Points - "An icon wine of the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Tenuta Luce 2018 Luce is recognized far and wide for its pretty sunshine motif on the front label. This mix of equal parts Sangiovese and Merlot is a symbolic marriage of Italy and France blended to safeguard the core identities of its two vinous protagonists. The Sangiovese adds wild rose, cherry and freshness; the Merlot brings on softness and texture. Each actor plays off the other in a flirtatious but ultimately complementary manner. This is a full-bodied Tuscan blend (aged for 24 months in 80% new French barrique) that will definitely give pleasure to that large crowd of Luce enthusiasts out there."
