Evodia - Old Vine Grenache, Calatayud, Spain 2019 Jeb Dunnuck 93 - "Based on 100% Garnacha, the 2019 Evodia is a killer value that delivers incredible Garnacha flair at a crazy good price. Kirsch, blackberry, acacia flower, violet, and sandalwood notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, beautifully layered wine with fabulous tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. This is the finest wine at this price point in the world." Newsletter Special - $11.99 Evodia is sourced from Garnacha from the villages of Atea, Acered and Alarba. Located in the Sierra Santa Cruz, these steep sites (up to 25%) have various exposures but share similar soils - slate and quartzite over clay. At an average elevation of 900 meters above sea level, these vineyards are among the highest sites within the province of Aragon. This unique terroir and the 40-100 year old vines of Garnacha rooted in it, are the origins of Evodia. This wine posses great freshness, light on it's feet, lively with crunchy red fruit, beautiful floral notes, clean minerals, and a touch of spice. This is possibly the best bang-for-your-buck out there for Spanish Grenache. Stock up today! Those floral tones recall rose, lavender and a touch of fragrant lilac. The wine is graceful, slender and enduring. It just keeps humming along with streamlined but focused intensity." Chateau Gloria - St-Julien, Bordeaux 2018 WE94/JD94/JS94 If you're looking for the most bang for your buck Bordeaux, Chateau Gloria delivers all the quality of premium Left Bank Bordeaux without the hefty price tag. This is one of my favorite recommendations for Bordeaux lovers, full-bodied and dense, rich in blue and black fruit, wild herbs, cigar box, and violets. One thing I love about this wine is how approachable it is in its youth, and it will continue to develop in the bottle well for at least a couple decades. Highly Recommended.
