Albert Boxler - Muscat Grand Cru Brand 2013 (750ml)

Bright straw. Delicate aromas and flavors of nectarine and fresh citrus fruits. Refined and dainty on entry, then increasingly powerful through the long, mineral finish, which resonates with spicy grapefruit and stone fruit nuances. This is typical of Boxler’s Muscat style, which is less explosive and pungent than most in Alsace. It’s also likely to be the only Muscat in some time from the estate, since Jean didn’t make any in 2012 and is not likely to make much, if any, in 2014 due to problems with Drosophila suzukii. Boxler owns quite a bit of the red-berried mutation, which gives especially large berries and withstands dry conditions slightly better than the white-berried variant but is a favorite Drosophila target.
