Burghound, Jan-22, Issue #85
(Arnaud Mortet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Red) "A slightly more elegant combination reflects notes of cool, pure and airy essence of red berries that are laced with spice, floral and more subtle earth wisps. The equally vibrant and very sleek middle weight flavors are finer on the palate with even more minerality suffusing the wonderfully long, balanced and complex finale. The supporting tannins are dense but fine and this should age gracefully for years. (Drink starting 2035) 93-95 points
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy, 2020 Côte de Nuits North: Chambolle-Musigny to Marsannay (12/1/2021)
(Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Arnaud Mortet, Red) "50% whole bunch vinification and 50% new wood. Powerful deep purple, some oak on the nose, a little richer. Altogether a plumper style with more strawberry in the fruit, fills the mouth completely, finishes very well. I give the Mazoyères the narrow edge for its precision. 94-96 points"
Vinous, Dance the Quickstep: Burgundy 2020 (Dec 2021) (12/1/2021)
(Arnaud Mortet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Red) "The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, 50% whole bunch and 50% new oak, has an elegant bouquet that is cut from a different cloth compared to the Mazoyères that Mortet insisted should be vinified separately as they are two different terroirs. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, fine balanced, maybe not quite as sophisticated or as nuanced as the Mazoyères yet certainly long. (Drink between 2025-2045) (92-94) points"
