"A broad array of spice elements adds to the appeal of the wonderfully fresh wild cherry and red currant, earth and subtle sauvage nuances. The sleek, intense and caressing broad-shouldered flavors possess both good volume and muscle on the powerful, focused and moderately austere finale. This is very impressive though note that it's going to need at least a decade to resolve its firm tannins. Excellent."

"The 2021 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru is matured in 20% new oak and 50% whole bunches (pédicelles). This has another crushed stone-scented bouquet, unfurling beautifully in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, blood orange and touches of marmalade. Quite firm and structured towards the finish, a more masculine Mazoyères that will require 3-5 years in bottle."

"A quarter has been aged in new wood and 50- 60% pedicel vinification. Full purple with a rich heady nose from the clay-based soil. Solid, earthy fruit with grand cru weight but not the most finesse. Continues well across the palate. This needs more time before revealing itself fully."
