Corbon - Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Avize 2010 (750ml)
John Gilman 95 points
"Agnès Corbon has made her 2013 and 2012 vintage bottlings from two different lieux à dits in Avize, so they will be an interesting pair to follow over the coming decades. The 2013 is going to be a stunning wine in due course, but it is a bit tightly-knit out of the blocks and really deserves some time in the cellar to unfurl. The bouquet is pure and precise, offering up scents of pear, fresh almond, a nice touch of passion fruit, chalky minerality, fresh-baked bread, citrus zest and a topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely snappy, with a rock solid core of fruit, lovely mineral drive, elegant mousse and a long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. Try to give it some hibernation time before pulling the cork; one can always drink the equally beautiful and more open 2012 version in the meantime! "
