Domaine Louis Boillot Et Fils - Pommard 1er Cru Les Croix Noires 2017 (750ml)

Les Croix Noires is one of the smallest premiers crus in Pommard, located to the south of the village. This is a little firmer and more ferrous than Louis Boillot's Fremiers, but it's by no means a monster. With subtle reduction, black cherry and raspberry fruits and good balance, it has the concentration from 85-year-old vines to age. (Drink between 2023-2030)

Reduction dominates the fruit day. By contrast the rich and naturally sweet medium weight flavors possess good if not distinguished density as well as fine length on the mildly rustic and austere finish. This refreshing effort is also quite firmly structured and will need at least a few years of cellaring. (Drink starting 2029)
