(Corton Le Rognet et Corton Grand Cru, Domaine Pierre Guillemot, Red) The vines are 15, 40 and 60 years old, one third of each. Their first vintage was 1999 and it has taken them twenty years to understand the terroir. They want to make this Corton as dense as they can first up and then wait, so they give it 50% whole bunches, and punch down morning and night. Excellent fresh red purple. There is indeed huge power to this, while the nose does not yet show detail, except perhaps a certain smokiness. The flavours are on the cusp of red and black fruit, with quite fierce acidity behind. This is a densely structured wine for sure, and I think the Guillemots have achieved what they set out to do. Ten years patience please. 92-95 points

The 2019 Corton Le Rognet et Corton Grand Cru has also turned out very nicely, mingling aromas of cherries, berries and plums with hints of woodsmoke and coniferous forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, deep and sapid, with lively acids, superb depth of fruit and refined tannins, it's long and penetrating.
