Etienne Sauzet Description
Burghound 94-96 points
"Smoky aromas of mineral reduction, citrus confit, dried white peach and a hint of passion fruit are trimmed in a plethora of spice elements, especially anise. The super-sleek and strikingly well-detailed larger-scaled and notably more powerful flavors brim with minerality and dry extract on the chalky, palate staining and hugely long finale. The Combettes is excellent, but this classy effort clearly offers another dimension."

"The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is step up from the Bâtard and Bienvenue this year with intense citrus fruit, crushed stone/flinty scents with razor-sharp precision. The oak is beautifully integrated. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, good concentration, hints of pineapple and grapefruit wrapped up in superb mineralité on the finish. Great length. Outstanding."
Decanter 96 points
"This Chevalier-Montrachet is an impressive monument of a wine, with aromas that range from lemon peel to passionfruit. The texture is creamy, round and dense, yet balanced by fresh acidity to produce a powerful impression and a lingering finish. Although produced from purchased must, Benoît Riffault has the input necessary in the vineyard to ensure top quality and it shows."
Jasper Morris 95-98
"Pale to mid lemon yellow. This is one of the riper noses where the pure chiselled white fruit of Chevalier is overlaid by a touch of honeysuckle. Which is not to disparage, because I like this wine very much, there’s a fresher fruit tension behind on the palate as well, and excellent length. It is actually very lovely. Very persistent."
