Burghound Outstanding Top Value!"
"Aged half in wood, half in steel with only <10% of the portion in wood being new - from Puligny vines. Aromas of petrol, lemon zest and various white orchard fruit lead to beautifully textured if not especially dense flavors that possess good cut and punch on the nicely persistent finale. Worth considering."
Jasper Morris
"A mix from below Puligny and Meursault. Very pale in colour. A slightly waxy note to the nose, not quite in place. All in white fruit with a certain amount of nuance, indeed this continues extremely well through to the back of the palate, very appetising. Just the bouquet to put in place. Drink from 2025-2028."
Wine Advocate
"Sauzet's 2022 Bourgogne Blanc bursts with aromas of pear, white flowers and toasted nuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and saline palate that's fleshy but vibrant. It's based on domaine fruit, complemented by some 15% that's bought in. Benoît Riffault is pleased with his 2022s, and with reason, as it numbers among his finest vintages to date. His harvest dates were more or less the same as in 2020, which is to say, relatively speaking, a little earlier, and that translates to impeccable balance across the board. But what are the rudiments of winemaking at this address today? Hand-harvested fruit is pressed without crushing, the press cycle lasting around three and a half hours and performing "quite a few," which is to say more than 20, rotations. The must is sulfited at the end of the press and settled for 24 hours, but Riffault retains most of the lees, fermenting in wood with ambient yeasts. Larger formats, including foudres, now complement 228-liter Burgundian barrels. The wines are racked to tank in July-August before the new vintage, whereas the premiers and grands crus spend as much as six months on their lees before bottling. All of Sauzet's wines are bottled with high-quality unbleached and unwaxed natural cork.(WK)"
Vinous
"The 2022 Bourgogne Blanc, aged in one foudre and 10 barrels, has an attractive, lilting bouquet with red apple and light pear scents. The palate is slightly bitter on the entry, with modest depth, and just a little short on the finish at the moment. (NM)"
