"The most complex and engaging release yet from this hugely promising new name in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Paul Girard-Bonnet's wines buzz with pure, crystalline energy and tension, even with all the beautiful fruit maturity he coaxes from his impressive 12ha of biodynamic Chardonnay. Hailing from Le Mesnil, this cuvée matches the bright 2021 base vintage with some oak fermentation and perpetual reserve depth to great effect, with a delicious toasty-nut richness lurking under a long squeeze of toasty lemon peel and accelerating chalky-dry presence. There's a sense of power and drama, brisk and frank, drawing the character of Le Mesnil in sharp detail."
Jancis Robinson 17.5/20
"100% Chardonnay – a selection of old vines, base of 2021, but also 2018, 2019 and 2020. The wine is aged in barrels 'to open the wine up'.
Smoky! Reduction? Plenty of struck flint, plenty plenty fresh grapefruit. All angles and slices and sabre-sliced vesicles and so very edgy. So much nervous energy. Mouth-filling and fibrillating with tension. Absolutely tingling out the glass. Grapefruit pip and pith. This is superb. Coruscating." Tamlyn Currin
