"Made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months in 85% new 225-liter French oak barrels, the 2016 Metisse Montbleau is very deep garnet-purple colored and opens with bold, brazen cassis, preserved plums and warm black cherries notes with nuances of Chinese five spice, Sichuan pepper, violets and cinnamon stick plus a waft of forest floor. Super intense with vibrant fruit on the full-bodied palate, it has beautiful tension and a firm, grainy texture, finishing very long on a mineral note. This should age amazingly! 125 cases produced, to be released in the spring of 2019."

"Another gem, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Metisse Montbleau Vineyard comes from a tiny 2-acre property just south of Meadowood that’s situated between 300 to 400 feet above sea-level. This is a full west-facing site, the soils here are more sandy loam, and it’s a warmer terroir that’s always harvested early. Deep purple-colored, with a beautiful perfume of crème de cassis, sage brush, damp flowers, and violets, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a tight, compact, backward texture, and building structure. It’s a beautiful wine yet needs 4-5 years of bottle age. I suspect it will cruise for 25+ years in cool cellars."
