Oudiette les Sablonnières Extra Brut
Oudiette x Filles is a 3rd generation martrilineally descended domaine in the Val du Petit Morin. And the 2019 'les Sablonnières' is the family's third year of release. Comprised of Pinot Noir and fermented in Burgundy barrels (10% new), spends 36 months sur latte, disgorged in December 2022 with 3g/l. This gorgeous blanc des noirs has has a pale peach hued robe with untrafine bubbles and a soft mousse. Creamy and biscuity on the nose with intriguing aromas of Pinot spice, Japanese plum, and candied orange rind. The champagne is mouthfilling and offers an array of penetrating stone fruit and blood orange zest flavors with fine texture and a long, expansive finish. Fine elegance and nuance already. Definitely a producer to watch.
Oudiette x Filles Description
Les Sablonnières comes from a tiny plot (23.64 ares) near the village of Beaunay in the Coteaux du Petit Morin. The parcel has a south-southwestern exposure at 200m planted to pinot noir and pinot noir droit (a small-berried clone prized for its structure) on sandy-clay topsoils, over a chalky subsoil. 2019 was the first time this vineyard was fermented alone and the results are stunning. Les Sablonnières is particularly suited to producing fine pinot noir that is both well-structured and immediately inviting, with a beautiful nose and effortless grace.
